11 months and 11 things

Today Quin is 11 months old and instead of boring you with a barrage of details about his cute little self, I'm just going to give you some highlights - 11, to be exact.

1.  He's been dancing since before Christmas but now has added some fancy orchestrating moves with his arms to his usual head bopping grooves.  It's very funny to watch and oh-so-cute!

2.  When I'm in the hallway where we hang our pictures and ask him where Jesus is, he can point Him out.

3.  He likes to wait until he's in a clean diaper, in his bed, supposed to be taking a nap before he poops.  Nice.

4.  He loves to turn off the lights.

5.  He's a sock puller-offer extraordinaire.

6.  It seems he thinks Daddy is Andur, Natalie, and Matt.

7.  When you tell him to say "mama", he says "dada".

8.  If you ask him "Where's Quin?", he'll point to him self repeatedly.

9.  When I ask him "Where's your toes?", he grabs them.

10.  After he grabs them, I started counting "1 2 3 4 5" and he'll point to his toes repeatedly while I do so.

11.  He is, without a doubt, a binky baby.  *sigh*

This year's been going by faster than I ever anticipated, sometimes faster than I'd hoped, and at other times not fast enough.  But it's been fun! :)

A new record!

When Andur was a baby, he started crawling three days before he turned 11 months old (Natalie was doing it sooner than that).  That day would've been yesterday for Quin.  I thought for sure he was going to do it, too.  He's very good at getting up on his hands and knees, but then just sits back down.  He moves around a lot, just not by crawling.  I'm beginning to wonder if he's going to be one of those babies that skips crawling altogether....... He pulls himself up on things just fine but just. won't. crawl.  Silly baby.  Maybe today's the day...

At least I'm loved

A poem for me and Daddy, from Natalie:

I love Daddy
I love Daddy
He's my friend
I don't care if he's mean
but still I love him so.
I love Mommy
I love Mommy
She's my friend
I don't care if she's mean
but still I love her so.

Yesterday, when she was on the phone with her dad (he's out of town for a bit), he must've asked her what she did during the day.  I heard her say a few things we did with "got yelled at a lot" amongst the list.  Hm.  Guess I should be nicer.  It's funny, though, how the GOOD things I do go unnoticed.

Well, no wonder!

Quin had the urge to chew gum because he NOW HAS FOUR TEETH IN WHICH TO CHEW IT WITH!!!!

Woohooo!!!! That stinkin' second top tooth is finally through!!!!!

For weeks, we've been dealing with little splurges of puke from extra tummy acid due to abnoxious teething!

Now we might catch a break for a while!

YAY!

Don't swallow it!

So, now that Quin's mobile, he's into pretty much anything he can reach.  Andur and Natalie have toy shelves downstairs with assorted buckets on them containing the goods.  This is one of Andur's:

(After Quin got to it, of course.)  We lovingly named it "Misfit Toys" so he'd have a place to put the toys that don't really fit into the other bucket categories.  (Sorry about the horribly blurry pictures - I was laughing so hard I couldn't stay still long enough to focus!)

I went through this bucket before letting Quin tear into it making sure to take out all the things he could potentially choke on, then let him play.

A short while after he started, my back to him because this is my computer time, I hear silence... and slobbering... and chewing...

...and turn around to find this:

Apparently, Andur still had some Bubble Tape leftover from Christmas.  And Quin found it.
And opened it.
And ate it.

And loved it.

Hey, at least he didn't choke!

LOL!!!

Nice shoes

Soon after Natalie got her big girl car seat (booster), she slipped off the arm rest covers.  Ever since then, she's been using them like this:

Afterall, they help her ice skate.

Question of the day

"In search of our best selves, several questions will guide our thinking:  Am I what I want to be? Am I closer to the Savior today than I was yesterday? Will I be closer yet tomorrow? Do I have the courage to change for the better?" (President Thomas S. Monson, February 2010 Ensign, bold/italics added)

Better health.

Better mom.

Better life.

Better me.

That's a pretty intense question.

Finally! 100th Day Peach Fuzz Randomness

That's what you get when I combine today's thoughts into one post.

1st bit of news:  Quin's top tooth finally poked through!!! We have seriously been watching this thing sloooooowwwwly descend for MONTHS.  The second one is so close.  Anyday now.  yeah right

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember Q-ball? I'd like to introduce Peach Fuzz.  I used a one verses a two from last time.

Ignore the monstrous pile of neglected laundry in the background.

The fake fuss:

Hungry, hence the fake fuss:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Today was my older kids 100th day of school, which is apparently a big thing.  They have to decorate shirts with 100 things on them and bring in 100 snacks.  And when I say they, I mean I.

Natalie's shirt:

I curled and tied 50 ribbons and bows and hot glued them on...

The back:

...then sewed 50 buttons on the back making a "100" and a smiley face.

Andur's shirt front:

And back:

Just painted, obviously.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And now for some randomness.  Notice the faces in the background.  Love it.

(This one's my favorite.)

This is what happens when Matt gets a hold of the camera.  There was also a picture of the ingredients in my milk.  I deleted that.  lol

A Whole Lotta Nothing

I have been so lazy as of late.  I usually go through a lazy phase once a month, but this one has lasted almost a month.  Waaaay too long for my taste.  I've been slacking in just about every area of my life.  I haven't even been reading, and that's just weird.  I know that if I would just get off my bum and exercise, I'd have the energy I need to keep going.  Well, it's not just lack of energy, though.  More like lack of desire.  Yesterday, I didn't even want to get on the computer... that's really weird.  (lol)

My day for FHE was last night, and it didn't get done.  Tonight, we have a free planetarium night so I'm using that as an easy-out FHE.  No good.  *sigh*

Usually, when something like this happens, I tend to focus on the "why".  As a result of that, I end up still doing more sitting and more thinking than actually getting up and doing something about it.  So, I'm going to skip that part and go straight for the getting up and doing something about it.

I have to.

We're out of silverware.

Lazy

I didn't want to change my background today.  I changed my quote, though.  :)

Always good for a laugh...

My dad sent me this email today and it made me laugh.

Did you hear about the Texas teacher who was helping one of her kindergarten students put on his cowboy boots?

He asked for help and she could see why..

Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little boots still didn't want to go on. By the time they got the second boot on, she had worked up a sweat.

She almost cried when the little boy said, 'Teacher, they're on the wrong feet.' She looked, and sure enough, they were. It wasn't any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool and together they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the right feet.

He then announced, 'These aren't my boots.'

She bit her tongue rather than get right in his face and scream, 'Why didn't you say so?' like she wanted to.

Once again, she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet. No sooner had they gotten the boots off when he said, 'They're my brother's boots. My mom made me wear 'em.'

Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. But, she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again.

Helping him into his coat, she asked, 'Now, where are your mittens?'

He said, 'I stuffed 'em in the toes of my boots.'

Just call me Anne Sullivan

Ha!

But really, check out these sleeves:

Am I good or am I good?

LOL

(Well, Shout and bleach can't talk so someone has to take the credit!)

At least it doesn't hurt anymore...

We all ended up getting sick.  (Not being bitter....... building immunity.......)

Natalie probably got the worst of it with a sore throat due to excess snot flowing down the back of her throat (yum, right?).  For a few days we've been coating it nicely with ibuprofen in the morning and before bedtime.  Every morning I'd ask her how she/it felt.  Her normal response was with a thumbs up or down or, usually, sideways.

This morning when I asked her, no thumbs were used.  Her response?

"The top part of it tastes like cheese."

Well... ok.  I'm guessing that means it's better now.  No ibuprofen was needed this morning and she was a charging rhino, which in Natalie lingo means she's back to normal.

And we all lived just the same.

Geesh, who was that dork freaking out about being sick?? Surely, it wasn't me.  ;)

How'd I do?

So, last month I set some goals.  I think if I'm going to set them, I should at least keep track of how well I do.

Physical goal:  Nada.  Well, I didn't officially start it till this month because of the lateness of setting it and the reality of actually losing 5 lbs. in 12 days (or whatever it was) just didn't jive with my thinking.  So, now I'm officially working on that one.  :)

Spiritual goal:  Totally aced this one.  Not a hard goal, but something I've never really done before, so it's all good.

Mental goal:  Find out HERE.

So, January was a wash, but this month will be better.  ;)

Ha ha - oops!

And Matt says I shouldn't wear white shirts...

Yeah, I'm thinking unless I can perform miracles, this shirt won't be going in the garage sale box.

But he sure loves his pasgetti!

Guess we should've rolled his sleeves up a little higher... that, or removed the shirt completely.  Oh, well.  It's just a shirt, right?
