Surviving Nuclear War

Apparently this is what you wear and this is where you hide to avoid poisonous gas from gas bombs...
The box behind them is one of three still unpacked that has our coat closet fixin's in.
Ha ha ha ha!!!!
Oh, to be a kid again hiding from gaseous fumes in winter clothing in a garage in July.

Is it September 1st yet????

"...and Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again!"

I think I remember thinking this the very first week they were out of school for the summer...

My kids have been at each others throats since June 4th! They need structure!!! We've had a busy, non-parenting summer, though.

June - We moved, unpacked, then repacked to go to Colorado for our vacation.
July - We went on vacation, then we came home to finish unpacking just in time to start gymnastics and German camp.

Yesterday was the last day for gymnastics and German camp ended last week... That was fun. It was, really, though. My kids loved it! Andur came home with all kinds of phrases and words he learned in German, a song they had to sing everyday, and tie-died shirts. Natalie learned how to do a cart wheel, got to do the uneven bars, balance beam, vault, and floor exercises. I'm surprised at how in-depth her program was! I didn't take pictures this year (of course), but oh well.

Now, for August. This month, we're going to have more mommy-time. Andur and I are going to complete a math book that all 2nd graders should know how to do as well as work on some multiplication flash cards, Natalie and I are going to work on some addition and subtraction flash cards, they're both going to work on handwriting (Natalie printing, Andur cursive) and we're going to have reading time as well as recess time. We ALL need it. And Quin will get extra tummy time. lol

Still, I'll be glad for when school starts. I was sitting feeding Quin yesterday and started wondering about how my day would go when it finally does........ I don't know. I'll get the cleaning done, as usual.... read some, probably..... exercise!!!! I'm going to be doing more of that in August, too. The kids and I are going to go for a walk everyday. We were for a short while, but then the whole extra-curricular activity things started.

Well, only 32 days to make sure my kids are ready for school. And only 32 days till I get a little more sanity back into my life.....

First Fever

Quin had his first fever today... I'm guessing from his shots yesterday. He hasn't been a super-crank, thankfully, but he's been less lively today. He took a THREE HOUR NAP today! I blame the Tylenol... poor little guy.

He's learned how to splash now! I was pretty wet from the chest up this evening due to his new-found talent. My hair was even wet! It was pretty funny! He kept going crooked in his little tub from wiggling so much. :)

That new noise he was working on with his tongue has now turned into razzberries, he even does it when he cries, so funny!

I don't remember if I mentioned this in my other post about him, but he can now bounce himself in his bouncy seat. I have to leave him unstrapped, though, so he can scooch down to the end and hang his leggies over the edge... then he just kicks away! You can tell he's doing it on purpose, it's funny to watch - he'll stick his legs straight out and just start bouncing them up and down to get himself going. As soon as he stops, he gets his little legs moving again. I love it!

Well, I've been putting him down awake for naps and bedtime all week and he still wakes up several times a night. I don't need to pick him up, just give him his bink is all. Still a pain. He goes to sleep just fine when I lay him down awake, so I know he can put himself to sleep, but he always has that dumb pacifier in his mouth. I hate to take it away from him but I know this would be the time to do it. I tried a couple times putting him to sleep without it and he'll stick his fingers or thumb in his mouth and suck for a minute but gets mad because it's not what he wants. He's too smart for my own good, dang it! Any suggestions? I read in a book once that a mother took her bink away from her baby at this age and it only took her like three days... but we all know that my baby is so not like the babies they talk about in books. He proves them all WRONG. Oh, what to do.... I'm tired of being tired. If he would just stay asleep or even go to sleep without his bink, we'd be in business. Seriously, any suggestions? I know Ferber is one option, but I'm not so sure I like that option...... I guess I'll just have to pick the lesser of the two evils. Unless anyone has a better idea...........

My New Wicked-Cool Tooth Brush!

Remember that open house we went to for our new dentist? Well, they had a drawing for a new tooth brush and guess what?

I WON!!!!

I think it normally sells for something like $179.00 (on sale?) but it is SO AWESOME!

Woohoo! I never win anything! This rocks!!

Breaking the Bank

The T. F.'s bank, that is!

Natalie lost her second tooth:
And Andur lost his 5th tooth, and first top tooth:
He thought he was going to get something like $10 for losing a top tooth... ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
To not let him down completely, he got $1 instead of the normal $.50. (The lighting in this picture makes his teeth look so yellow! lol!)
One thing's for sure, my kids are definitely getting to the goofy-looking stage of elementary school! LOL

That was the longest, fastest 4 months EVER.

Four months old!! Geesh, where does the time go?? "Is this the little (boy) I carried? Is this the little boy at play? I don't remember growing older... when did they?" LOL - If you could only hear me sing that.....

We went to the doctor today for his 4 month check-up. He's a-growin', that's for sure! He was in the 97th percentile for height at 26.5 inches long and in the 75th percentile for weight at 15 lbs. 8 oz.! I thought he'd be bigger, but still.... ;) He's out-grown his little baby carrier, I noticed today his little piggies were hanging over the edge. We don't have the moolah for a bigger one, yet, but soon, I hope. I really, really hope. :) He's drinking 28-32 oz. between 4 feedings a day and even though he doesn't eat at night anymore, he still doesn't sleep all night long. Dang it. His doc (I met a new one today and LOVE her) suggested putting him down awake but drowsy - which I used to do, but got cozy rocking him lately and hold him way past the moment he dozes off... my bad. lol I was thinking that's what I had to do but it's always nice to hear a pro say "yep, good plan". Dr. Julie also said he's doing things he should be doing at his 6 month check-up. That's cool seeing as he won't roll over yet (probably due to constant swaddling and bouncy seat sitting for three months) and he's not sitting up yet. He doesn't laugh yet, either, but he'll squeal. I take that back, Matt and Andur have both made him giggle outright once each. He's learned how to make himself bounce in the bouncy seat and has a new sound he makes with his tongue, it's so cute! (Are you ready to gag, yet?) (lol) I took some recent pictures, too. (I know, weird, right?)

Notice the drool patch that's constantly under his little chin. :)

Grabbing his piggies is his new favorite thing, and he even got them in his mouth the other day! I love this! Apparently, this is called defying gravity or some such doctor jargon. lol

I tried to get a smile but he sees the camera and gets all serious.

That color on my toes is Sunny Coral by Mary Kay in case you were wondering... LOL

And, evidence of a scream-fest. See the L-shaped wrinkle above his nose and next to his left eye? We call that his grump wrinkle.

We've tried cereal, but he just gags. LOL I've tried different consistencies and even mixed with formula, but no go. We'll keep trying. :) He likes ice cream, though......... (hee hee)

I love this toothless grin! This bib is so big on him, my kids call him the floating head when he wears it. LOL

Yeah, we're not sure about this. ha ha ha ha ha!!!
I still can't believe I have a baby. It still is weird to me. BUT, we love him oh-so-much and my kids are becoming pros at helping him calm down when I'm busy being a mom elsewhere. Glad he's ours, I think we'll keep him. :)

Angels Among Us

Someone must've known I needed a full night's sleep last night...
Quin was so tired last night that he went to sleep without his binky. I laid it in the right hand corner of the head of his bed so as to be able to find it quickly in the middle of the night, should I need to. Well, this morning, when he finally woke at the heavenly hour of 5:30am (it's amazing how a little thing like perspective makes 5:30am seem "heavenly"), his bink was nowhere to be found... I thought maybe he'd knocked it off in the middle of the night so I started searching under the bumper pad, under his bed, between the head of his bed and the wall with no luck. It was then that I saw it peeking out from behind his right ear, kind of stuck under his neck... complete opposite of the corner of the bed I stuck it in. I asked Matt, who's also awake at 5:30am, if he by chance got up without me hearing him to bink him sometime last night. Nope. I asked Natalie and Andur, too, who both said they didn't do it, either. I know Matt or I didn't do it in our sleep because our bedroom door was locked before we went to bed and was still locked this morning when I got up.
Who gave it to him, then?
There are only two possibilities I can think of:
A) He somehow figured out where it was, grabbed it, and put it in his mouth the right way. (Which he couldn't have, because he couldn't have reached it - plus, he scooches down, away from the head of his bed, while he sleeps. Plus, I held it in front of him to test that theory, and he did grab it, but couldn't quite get it in his mouth the right way, even with my help.)
Or B) Divine Intervention.
I think B.
How awesome is THAT!?

Meet Pubescent Cashier Boy

First, a little background on my trip to Walmart today...

Someone asked me today if I wasn't going to the store with three kids by myself because shopping with a baby was hard. I said, "Have you met my other two kids??"

I'm so glad I had Matt (he said I could use his name now... lol) with me... someone might have died today.

We're in the meat section, right? Then we get bread, then produce, then we check out. Well, by now, our buggy is more than full, Natalie's pulled the little plastic bags about 4 ft. out of the container thing, on both sides, and Andur has begged us for about 7 aisles for some really expensive candy. I'm starting to freak out about how much we've spent so far and Quin is crying.

Bread aisle. Matt's holding Quin. Natalie's man-handling boxed pastries. Andur's sniffing and/or tasting coffee grounds. And Matt and I are arguing about buns. We're past our limit of sanity.

Produce section. Get second buggy due to overloadage of goods (we're having BBQ/Open House/Game Night at our house Saturday). Andur and Natalie are fighting over who gets to push it. Matt breaks it up. Natalie lets go first. She books it to the onions and commences peeling. Andur's being "talked to" about his attitude. I'm frantically trying to collect the produce we've decided we need as quickly as possible. Behind my back, Natalie's asking me if I need lettuce. I turn around to her loading a scale with it. In the distance, I hear Matt telling Andur to "quit breaking Walmart's stuff", which means he was trying to put himself on a scale.

Finally, one and quarter buggies later, we're done.

Somehow, we find a check-out lane that's wide open. We pull the heaviest buggy in first, followed by the second, all while our kids are already starting to paw the shelves.

Enter Pubescent Cashier Boy.

He has the nerve to tell us to back the buggies out and pull the other one in first for easy loadability or some junk like that. Whatever. So we do.

Andur and Natalie head to the drinking fountain and then to the bench in front of the hair cutting place to "sit and wait".

Matt has to put Quin down to help unload. Quin screams.

PCB (Pubescent Cashier Boy): How old's your baby?

Me: 4 months.

PCB: Oh, mine's 3 months.

I do a double take because I could swear this kid (and I mean KID) is not more than 16, maybe 17.

PCB: Is he a crier?

IMH (In my head): Dude, he's crying right now isn't he?? Just scan and bag, kid, scan and bag. That's all you gotta do.

Me: Yep.

PCB: I'm so lucky. My baby never cries. Like never.

IMH: Yeah, right, liar. No baby NEVER cries.

Me: Wow. You are lucky.

PCB: He's maybe cried one whole tear.

IMH: That's because they're just now getting tears, you moron.

Me: Wow.

PCB: Yeah, he only cries when he's really, really hungry.

Me: Wow.

PCB: Yeah, me and my girlfriend are so lucky. He's slept through the night since he was born.

IMH: Rrrrrrriiiiiiiight. Cuz the nurses at the hospital don't make you feed them every three hours. Uh huh.

Me: Wow, that is very lucky.

At this point, I'm yelling at my kids because they're literally trying to scale the hair cutting place's window using the back of the bench. We're only half-way through the buggies.

PCB: How much does he weigh?

IMH: Dude. Just scan and bag. Just scan and bag.

Me: He was 14 lbs. 3 oz. a week or so ago.

PCB: He's big!

Me: Yep. He doesn't have a problem eating.

PCB: Mine weighed 13 lbs 4 oz. four days ago. He likes his food.

Me: How much does he eat?

PCB: Like 6-7 oz.. Every hour.

IMH: (speechless)

Me: (biting my tongue) That's amazing.

IMH: You don't really have a clue, do you tonto?

Quin is still screaming.

PCB: Yeah, I'm so lucky.

IMH: You know what? I've read/heard from several sources that babies who don't cry much when they're baby-babies, often make up for it when they're a little older. So ha ha on you! plbbbbbbbb!

Me: Is that everything? Really? (I'm in shock because we actually spent $100 LESS then I feared we would.)

PCB: Yep. Have a nice day!

Me: You too. Good luck with that baby. (eyes rolling)

The happy ending to my story, other than spending significantly less than feared: I had a bag of clothes for a lady who lives on the complete other side of town from me and forgot to give them to her when I was out that way today so they just happened to still be in my car. Well, she just happened to be behind me in the check-out lane, and just happened to be parked right across from me. Who's the lucky one, now, punk?!

I can laugh about it now, but I sure wasn't laughing earlier.

OK, fine. I'll tell you.

I'm going to be a Nursery Leader! :) :) :)

I really have wanted this calling since Quin was born. That way I feel like I'm doing something but still have the ability to do the baby thing, too. At least I hope they don't mind if I still do the baby thing. I love my husband and he's great with the kids and all, but doing the baby thing just doesn't come naturally to him. I love to laugh at people when they say things like "Well, can't your husband just take him?" Ha! I love you, M, but you know I'm right. ;)

What's funny is while I was waiting outside the classroom where they were getting M's support in my new calling, I was looking through the Nursery window wanting to be in there so badly. I love that age! Toddlers I can do. *(Babies I can do, too, but this baby's been the exception....)

So, there you have it. I'm not good at secrets. lol

*I'm actually doing quite well with this baby, considering. You all just hear the bad parts. I should have my husband do a post to tell you how things really go down at my house. :) I have to vent somewhere, right? I'd vent to my husband but he just gets the deer-in-the-headlights look and his mental shut-off switch gets activated... lol Again, love you M! Thanks for all the awesomeness that you really are! (He helps out with EVERYTHING else, trust me! I couldn't do this without him.)

Who needs a storm when you got Mike?

Meet Mike.

Mike's our new neighbor. He's nice. In our last big storm, Mike had a tree fall apart in his backyard, so he decided to cut down the other tree just like it to prevent it from doing damage to our house in the next big storm.

This is the tree (or was, rather):

This is one of the new big holes in our fence caused by the falling branches (it's to the right of Mike as you're looking at him, behind the bush):

These are the other two holes made by the branches (he had to use a pallet to cover up one of them so his dog would not become friendly with our yard):

These are some of the branches:

One of the big ones that broke the two places in the fence above crashed into our house... M said there's no damage, it was just leaves that hit. I haven't been out there to look, yet, but it sure sounded like more than leaves...

Mike, of course, is going to fix the fence. :) He's nice.

*sigh*

So, I've been praying for Quin to sleep better, right? Because it makes me super grumpy, right?
Instead, I'm blessed with the ability to somehow make it through each day without totally murdalizing someone (yesterday was a close call) and I somehow have the energy to keep up on my dishes and laundry. Now, vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms is another story........ I'm trying to be grateful for the things I DO get blessed with, instead of being so dang ungrateful all the time. I have a friend on IV therapy for her M.S. on the verge of needing a wheel chair. I have a sister with brain issues who's already had brain surgery for it but is now having worse problems. I have another friend with a child in a wheel chair but doesn't know what her disabilities are, even though the doctors have done loads of tests...... It could be worse, and it isn't. I have a perfectly healthy baby who just has issues with sleeping. I can handle that. I'd like to remedy that, but I can handle it just the same. The Lord would never give us anything we couldn't handle. I believe that 100%.

As a little reminder from the Lord (who else would know I needed to hear this?), I got this yesterday in my email:

“A familiar example of losing ourselves in the service of others—this one not unique to Latter-day Saints—is the sacrifice parents make for their children. Mothers suffer pain and loss of personal priorities and comforts to bear and rear each child. Fathers adjust their lives and priorities to support a family. The gap between those who are and those who are not willing to do this is widening in today’s world. . . .“We rejoice that so many Latter-day Saint couples are among that unselfish group who are willing to surrender their personal priorities and serve the Lord by bearing and rearing the children our Heavenly Father sends to their care. We also rejoice in those who care for disabled family members and aged parents. None of this service asks, what’s in it for me? All of it requires setting aside personal convenience for unselfish service. All of it stands in contrast to the fame, fortune, and other immediate gratification that are the worldly ways of so many in our day.”
-Dallin H. Oaks

I would do anything for my kids, even if it means getting up several times a night to comfort them. After all, I'm going to face lots more sleepless nights in their favor, right? Why not start now? :)

Monday, July 20, 2009

Now what?

I've broken Quin of his nightly feeding... but he still wakes up at 3am. And 3:30am. And 4am. And 4:30am. And 5am. And 5:30am.......................................................

What the heck do I do, now?? For the last few days, I've been up with him 5-10 times between the hours of 3am and 6am, and I so wish I was exaggerating. I finally unplugged the baby monitor this morning around 4:45am, but by 5:30, I had gotten up with him another time and finally just brought him to bed with me. I still heard him crying. He'll go back to sleep sometimes with just his bink, but sometimes I have to rock him, too. I hate this so much and there isn't much I hate in this world. Today has been crappy, just like most other days when this happens. Several days ago, he slept through the night, and then slept till 5:30am the next day, then 4:30am the day after that, and NOW he's been doing the multiple wakings since then. I'm really ready to scream. I hate having to nap during the day just to keep from killing my kids. I hate it. HATE IT.

And now? Now he's been napping for two hours+ straight, part of which happened on me. Now he's slept through his feeding time by almost an hour and has screwed up the rest of the day. But am I going to wake him up? Yeah right. Argh!!! I just wish this would end already!!!!!!!!!

New Calling!

I was recently released at church as the YW secretary. I was glad for this because Quin has taken a LOT of my time (like you didn't know, right?) and I haven't been able to fulfill my calling as I should. (Nor have I had the desire... I'm all for service, but I've been feeling very inconvenienced, lately, and that's not the right attitude when serving at church so I feel it's best I was released, anyway.)

Well, when the Bishop said he was releasing me, he said they'll have something else for me "real soon". We just had a Ward boundary change, which opened up some callings, so this had me a little anxious. This was a week ago.

Today, a member of the Bishopric pulled me aside and asked to meet with my husband and I. Of course I knew why, we both had given talks recently and today we both said the prayers in Sacrament meeting, and Matt already has his new calling.

So, yep, they gave me a new calling. I was very excited for this because it was actually one I've been wanting for some time now. I had this calling when I was in Washington and loved it then...

I can't tell you what it is yet, though! Or can I? M said I'm not supposed to tell anyone until they "swear me in" next week.......

Guess you'll have to wait and see................................................

:)

Musing

What are your talents?

Do you ever think about that?

I have been, lately. I was thinking about that earlier today while rocking my baby and couldn't come up with many answers. I know I have them, but I haven't used them for a while. I know I've sort of been preoccupied these last few months which has made it hard to even want to do my hair in the morning, let alone anything during the day, but things (don't jinx myself, now) are starting to ease up a bit and I'm finding the desire to do things again, do things for me or with my other two chitlins.

I'm doing this mostly for myself, this wondering out-loud thing, so you can bear with me and keep reading or move on to the next blog you stalk... your choice. :)

I get to these points in my life when I feel like I'm simply just existing. No progression. No growing. No learning. I really dislike these moments. But, they do inspire great ideas for doing something new or picking up something I've started but forgot about. I always have great ideas, but following through is where I slack a little.

I have so many things I want to do but I get so frustrated because most of my days are consumed by a catnapping, banshee-baby. (I love that little stink, but it's a good thing he's cute.) I used to read two books a week (all while babysitting and volunteering and family-rearing and keeping my house clean) but I'm reading my first non-baby book (lying-no-good-dirty-rotten-they're-all-wrong-didn't-study-a-baby-like-mine books!) since Quin was born and it's taken me over two weeks so far. I know babies are time-consuming and I don't begrudge him that, but man I miss "me time".

One thing I've always prided myself in is my ability to multi-task and my stubbor... er... determination. So, I'm putting these things to good use. I'm taking it one step at a time, mind you, and baby steps at that, but I'm making changes. You know, controlling the things I can control. One thing I'm initiating with my two older kids is a reading time. They're both excellent readers and the library is as frequented as Walmart in our family, so I figured this is a good thing. We're also taking walks together everyday. I also have them help me do their laundry (it's never too soon to learn, right?) I've noticed my kids are so much more behaved when I actually do stuff with them. Who knew? ;) Plus, we're going to be painting some Sun Catchers we bought for muey cheap at Walmart... I'll be sure to take pics of that to show you the awesomeness.... :)

I think I've been using Quin as an excuse to not do things for so long that I wasn't paying attention to the moment I didn't need to anymore. Yes, he still has scream-fests a couple times a day and naps are still longed for, but, really, he's quite content to sit and watch us for the most part. His new friends are the pointer and middle fingers on his left hand, his thumb on his right hand, his blankie (any one), and his bink in cases of extreme fussiness.

No more excuses.

Time for some learning and growing and progressing.

Anyway... I think I'm done thinking out-loud, now. Thanks for "listening". :)

Good thing I don't HAVE any dollars in my wallet...

I'm just passing this thought along.....

Have you ever wondered if the one dollar bills in your wallet were ever in a strippers's butt crack?

If not, you're wondering now.

Have a nice day. :)

Anyone know where I can find a BA meeting?

So, I was driving down the road the other day, thinking to myself: I should blog about the wicked storm last night.

But then I thought, why the heck would anyone even care to read about that? What was the purpose of my blog anyway? To share my family with distant friends and family...

So, why, then, am I thinking about the perfect post for a storm? And why, after this realization, was I trying to think of the perfect post for thinking about posting about a storm??

LOL

Hello, my name is Jami, and I'm a blogaholic.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

P.S. It really was a wicked storm! I was fully expecting a tornado to come crashing through, no joke. Anywho, not that you care. ;)

All hail Dental Insurance!

Today was my kids' very first trip to the dentist... I know, shame on me. But, in my defense, this is the first job we've had that has had dental coverage. And, even better, starting this year, they cover two cleanings a year 100%! With having a baby and all and vacations and moving and not even having a dentist, this is the first good opportunity we had to make an appointment. M went to a dentist shortly after we moved here three years ago for a tooth extraction, but come to find out the dentist had her license revoked due to so many malpractice suits. Nice. A couple weekends ago, though, we heard on the radio of a new dentist in town having an open house - in our lame dentists old office! So we went for free hot dogs and ended up making appointments for the whole fam-damily. (Even after M swore off dentists...lol)

Well, today was the big day for my kids, and I took them fully expecting several cavities at least... But when they came out, NO CAVITIES were to be reported!!! Weehoo!

And for my added entertainment, I got to witness an adult hissy-fit, accompanied by her daughter doing the same. The daughter was apparently NOT there to see the dentist, her brothers were, and when you see the dentist, you get a prize out of the treasure box. The dentist wasn't going to give the girl a prize, so she screamed. And screamed. And screamed. I think she was three. They had already humored the mother by giving the little girl a toothbrush just like her brothers, but apparently this wasn't good enough. Instead of reprimanding her daughter, the mother decides to loudly talk to her daughter about how cruel the dentist office was being and how it wasn't fair they weren't giving her a prize and blah blah blah. One brother had even offered to further spoil the child by giving up his toy to her. (I'm gathering by now this girl gets what she wants quite often.) By the end of the visit, the mom decides that none of her kids are getting a prize because "we don't want their toys", like this might make the dentist feel guilty or something and give in to the brat, er, I mean, child. (And I thought I needed a book to keep me from being bored. Ha!) (I should make sure to always set our appointments in sync with this chick's... lol!)

Did you know?

Andur was wondering out loud at lunch today who invented bread and butter. Without skipping a beat, Natalie piped up with "Dr. Seuss!"

I asked her where she got her information and she told me about a book that was read to her by the librarian at their school. Andur said it was called "The Butter Battle Book".

Betcha didn't know that, did you?

Another question that Andur posed was "What's the face of the earth?"
Natalie's answer: Arizona.

When I asked her where she got her information on this subject, she said "I don't know, I was just guessing."

Guess she doesn't know everything. :)

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Oh, sure - NOW I figure it out!

Well, the Public Health nurse who visits me did.

I have a Type A personality baby!!

Nothing's wrong with him! He just wants what he wants and he wants it 10 minutes ago, hence the intense screaming!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

My nurse was witnessing another one of Quin's screams ("cries" just doesn't apply) and she said "he's not hurting, he's just mad!" She's also said before that "he's not in pain, he's just throwing a hissy!" LOL It's so true, too!

I never switched the formula because if he was truly having issues with the formula he was on, his occassional spitting-up would be more frequent and intense... also, his poops wouldn't be normal like they are. Just my thinking on that....

I have to laugh at this because, well, it's just funny!

I've trusted this nurse more than I've trusted Quin's doctor, and yesterday was her last visit. I'm going to miss her! I'm just glad I had someone who knows their shtuff to actually see what Quin does so she can clue me in on what I'm dealing with here.

Demanding. Impatient. Stubborn. Willful. Yeah, I have no idea where he gets it from............

At least now I know what I'm up against.

Jealous

I have to admit, I don't like reading other people's blogs sometimes when they talk about how wonderful and easy and non-crying their babies are. I'm not talking about just one person, so don't take this personally. I'm not bitter, either, so don't take this that way, either. I just wish so badly that I could have an easy baby. Things are easier, mind you, but I would so love to have good naps (not for me, for Quin), a full night's sleep and crying only for the obvious. He's so cranky because he doesn't sleep well, and his seems to have tummy issues with or without his reflux medicine or putting rice in his bottles. His doctor suggested switching his formula again, and I'm even tempted to try it. I just hate not knowing. My mom had a good point, though, she thought he should be about past the relux by now, which I agree... but I just don't know, apparently. Maybe it's not reflux, maybe it is his formula. I guess it can't hurt to try, and if it doesn't work, just go back to what he's on now.

I guess I'm not completely done venting on my blog. (hee hee)

My vacation was awesome, by the way! Not many pics (of course) but I'll create a seperate post later. :)

Overheard during snack time:

Andur and Natalie were sitting at the table eating crackers having this conversation:

A: (In a rather rastafarian accent) I'm some Chinese dude from Japan.
N: What?
A: (A little louder) I'm some Chinese dude from Japan.
N: What??
A: (Almost yelling) I'm some Chinese dude from Japan!
N: WHAT?
A: Why do you keep doing that?
N: I don't speak spanish!

I'm so glad I expose them to various cultures.

Goodbye Papoose, Hello Tears

The two are unrelated. Read on:

Since Quin was about 2 weeks old (when we realized the true meaning of colic), we've been swaddling him. A friend of ours gave us one of these, and I've sworn by the thing ever since. Quin recently grew out of the one given to us so we purchased a bigger one not even two weeks ago. Since then, he's been yanking his arms free on a nightly basis, and twice a night, at that. I thought this may be the reason for his nightly wakenings, so yesterday for naps and last night I tried not swaddling. He still slept as he always does but he slept nonetheless. Although, I've noticed he likes to snuggle his blankies up to his face with his hands free, so we're saying goodbye to the swaddling blanket. The one we JUST bought. lol

And something I've noticed for a small while now, Quin now has tears. *sniff* So sad, but oh-so-cute. :)
